Martin and I are getting the garden ready to wind down for the year. What a blessing our garden has been for us! I have been a canning machine this Summer LOL! Thank you for all the kind words and wonderful reviews of all our in-house jarred goods I have made this year! I have processed a lot of goodness to be able to continue canning for a little bit longer to make sure we have, hopefully, enough to get us through the Christmas shopping season!

So many delicious jams and jellies!!

Martin has been our official store taste tester and has given his thumbs up and approval! LOL

I am hoping to get some of our scrumptious Apple Pear Jam made soon! I did already make our super popular Candied Apple Jelly and I am almost sold out again! Guess I better get back in the kitchen soon!!

Summer produce is always a favorite with everyone, but I am particularly partial to the Fall flavors!! What is your favorite Fall

flavor?

Get ready for something wonderful as you prepare this homemade Troutt Old Time General Store Preserves Brie Cheese Pastry Wheel! This amazing appetizer is unbeatable during Thanksgiving or Christmas, or any other time you want to impress your friends and family with a delightful appetizer. Just be sure to get some of your own, because once this hits the table, it’ll be gone quicker than the holidays!

Brie Cheese Pastry Wheel Recipe

Ingredients you will need:

  • 1 wheel Brie cheese, partially scraped

  • 1 package puff pastry (2 sheets), thawed

  • 1 package 9″ pie crust

  • 1 jar homemade Troutt Old Time General Store preserves

  • 1 egg mixed with 1 teaspoon water (egg wash)

Take 1 wheel Brie cheese and partially scrape off the outer layer.

Place 9″ pie crust on cutting board. Cut into 3 strips, each 1/8″ wide. Cut remainder of crust into 1/2″ strips.

Braid the 1/8″ strips.

Using the 1/2″ strips, make a lattice crust.

Cut or gently tear away the edges, forming the top of the pastry.

Place 2 sheets thawed puff pastry on baking sheet. Place Brie wheel in middle. Trace around Brie wheel with knife.

Cut puff pastry in a strip designed to make a wall around Brie wheel. Combine 1 egg and 1 teaspoon water to make egg wash. Coat sides of Brie wheel with egg wash and wrap pastry sough around Brie, forming a wall.

Add homemade Troutt Old time General Store preserves to top of Brie wheel.

Add the lattice top to the Brie wheel, covering it. Run a thin strip of dough around the top to keep the top sealed.

Using remaining dough and egg wash, form a bow and place on top of pastry. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Serve with wheat crackers and enjoy!
